alfred hitchcock's psycho has been constantly been raved among critics to be the top, if not most, chilling movie of all time.
with so much hype, its no wonder why so many people talk about the infamous shower scene.
when i first saw a snippet about the scene itself, other then the extremely clever use of edits and sound, i found little to wow about. it was just a person being killed in the shower, albeit a little screechy for my tatse.
but that was a few years ago....
now, when they had the screening for the entire movie in school yesterday, i jumped at the opportunity to save what the fuss was about the movie. it couldn't just be the murder scene that captivated the world right?
well, turns out...i was both right and wrong...
hitchcock was a genius for creating the scene. As marion, the doomed damsel, was on the run from the authorities after embezzling 40 thousand in cash from her employer, she stopped and decided to rest in bates hotel.
they had no one else living in their rooms when she arrived. the only living souls were norman bates, the owner as well as his beloved mother. It was the perfect setting for a perfect crime.
hitchcock had mentioned before that the shower scene was intended to be a baptism of fire for marion, who had decided to head back and fix her own problems instead of running away.
somewhere in between that, this happened....
the masterful stroke was creating suspense and building up the moment to be unforgettable. even though i knew it was coming, i had no idea that the moment could be quite intense. its like how you know a rhino is charging at you from a great distance, but only when it comes right in front of you, you begin to panic.
again, that happens again in another scene when a private detective comes along to find out where marion had gone. he enters the house where the mom was and she appears to end his investigation in a similar albeit horrifying manner.
this movie has also been a pioneer in old ages for its inventive use of a psychological storyline, which is always better then a staple of love stories and whatnots.
so....do yourselves a favour and go rent the dvd.....
i give it 4.5 knife stabs!!!

the one with a son gouku driving up in his porsha(yes..i call it porsha) or something and goes to school?
nah..neither did i...
but this is exactly what seems to be happening in the above said picture...
weird what hollywood does to asian material...
the least they could do is actually get the cast to be asian...

i realised something today....
generally i dun like to talk about myself to people in case i end up blabbering and sort of look like an egoistic idiot who just cant shaddap about me myself and moi...
but the more i avoid dat...the more i clam up....and the more shoddy slash grey i become...ive become like a floating enigma of sorts, only appearing when needed...
i guess its easy to be grey..heck its even good to be grey sumtimes...but people need to open up sometimes...or else...it kinda builds up..which is not a good thing...
this negativity has got me totally avoiding any personal information about myself...
well..i guess i kinda need to step up and answer for it...
next stop.....sin city........
